Best Cheerleader Movies for Kids

Bring It On (2000) (RATED PG-13)

If you're not aware of this, the Bring It On franchise is actually a whole series of 6 movies (so plenty of cheer to watch there) centered around the rivalry of two cheer squads one with a reputation to save and another seeking recognition for hard-earned talent and skill.

With loads of pressure from both team captains and a race to win the championship, this is a really great movie that brings the cheer front-and-center.

Nfinity Champions League Cheerleading (2014) (Age 7+)

The Nfinity Champions League is a documentary that follows an annual cheer competition of 30 teams that represent the cream-of-the-crop of competitive cheerleading.

This gives you a view of both the true-life backstage goings on of how much hard work it is to be on the cheer squad–and also the epic performance that results from all that blood, sweat, and tears.

Fired Up (2009) (PG-13)

This is a PG-13 movie about two young men who decide to join the cheer team after being on the football team. Loads of crude jokes and fun–maybe not a lot of heartwarming moments. But it's definitely a riot–for maybe the older kiddos.

Man of the House (2005) (PG-13)

Another one for the older kiddo crowd (it's PG-13 as well), this film features Tommy Lee Jones as a  Texas Ranger assigned to protect a team of cheerleaders that were witnesses to a murder. Lots of non-performance action, build-up, suspense, and just plain fun. With some cheer thrown in, because you, know, that's important, too.

Gotta Kick It Up (2002) (Rated G)

A little “sister act” vibe but with cheer, a Latin teacher that brings in some new dance moves, and a little heartwarming twinge here and there. Then you also get some wicked cool performance, the highlight of the whole movie.

Blood, Sweat & Cheers (2009) (Tweens/Pre-Teens)

A peek into the real-life behind-the-scenes of being in a cheerleading squad and family. You get to see all the crazy hard work and feel the payoff at the end with the great cheers and epic pom poms.

Going for the Gold (2018) (Not Rated)

Some fun down-under action in Australia where the main character, Emma, overcomes her fears–and the mean girls in a cheering competition movie that will inspire the kids to hard work. This is my favorite of all the kids cheerleading movies.
