Sensory-Friendly Movies – Where to Find Them

June 28, 2022 by What to Watch Guide 4 Comments

If you are looking for sensory-friendly movies for your family, be sure to check out this list.

Did you know that movie theaters often have special sensory-friendly movie screenings?

I did not!

I have a friend who has autistic sons and she told me all about it. Here are a few of the questions I asked her…

In this post:

Toggle
  • Do you take your autistic kids to the movie theater?
  • How are “autism-friendly movies” different than a regular movie showing? Sensory-friendly movies mean?
  • Sensory Friendly Movies Regal: June 2022

Do you take your autistic kids to the movie theater?

Of my two autistic boys, one is not sensitive but the other is. We typically like to go to early shows with smaller crowds, especially if the kids need to go to the bathroom a lot.

How are “autism-friendly movies” different than a regular movie showing? Sensory-friendly movies mean?

According to my friend:

  • sound is lower
  • you bring your own food because many in the spectrum can't eat certain foods, so this is allowed
  • it's not dark
  • talking is allowed
  • kid-friendly movies
  • movies that the whole family can enjoy
  • very affordable and not full price
